Do you know someone who would make a great indexer?

Do you know someone who would make a great indexer?

The MLA Bibliography is now accepting applications for its 2014 Field Bibliography Fellowships.

**Applicants must be MLA members.**

Also they should have a Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field and access to scholarly material for indexing.

Applications for the 2014 field bibliography fellowships are due by 1 April 2014.

The MLA seeks scholars of any level of seniority interested in training as field bibliography fellows and able to deliver at least one hundred citations each year. This opportunity is open to potential as well as existing field bibliographers. The MLA will provide materials and training meetings at the annual convention. Fellows attending training sessions will have their conference registration fees waived. On completion of the fellowship, they will receive a stipend of $500 and a certificate during the awards ceremony at the MLA convention. It is hoped that recipients of these fellowships will continue submitting citations throughout their careers.

Please submit a letter of request, including qualifications and reasons for applying for the fellowship, and a current résumé or CV. Materials may be sent to Helen Slavin, MLA International Bibliography, 26 Broadway, 3rd floor, New York, NY 10004-1789 (hslavin@mla.org).

CFP MLA 2015: What Does It Mean to Publish? New Forms of Scholarly Communication

Combining the immediacy of a blog post with the rigor of a refereed journal, “middle state” publishing is gaining ground in the humanities. How does middle-state publishing — also known as “grey literature” — challenge our notions of what makes something “published”? Scholars wrestle with the import of this question for hiring, tenure, and promotion decisions, while librarians, archivists, and the MLA International Bibliography struggle to document and preserve emerging forms of scholarly communication. This session seeks papers that will engage with the question of what it means to publish. How might institutional repositories constitute a form of publication? How do new tools and methodologies suggest new categories for indexing and analysis? How do new categories of scholarly publication challenge and change how we keep the scholarly record? How do we archive emerging material?
